The Firth Group with its management and staff are deeply saddened to announce the passing of their esteemed CEO, John Leask Gates Firth (16 March 1969 – 17 May 2023).

John’s passing was untimely, unexpected and comes as a significant shock to many who knew him. John’s exceptional leadership, visionary thinking, and unwavering commitment have left an indelible mark on the company and its people.

As we mourn this significant loss, we are grateful for his lasting legacy and immeasurable contributions made throughout multiple facets of the business, as well to the lives of all of the staff members.

Our heartfelt condolences go out to the broader family at-large, but particularly to those who were closest to John—namely, his wife Louise, his children, Gene, Anne, Johnathan, his mom and dad, Jennifer and Doc Ian, his sibling sisters, Judy and Susan and the family’s long-serving and much-loved domestic worker, dearest Gogo.

John was a pillar, a man who opened his heart to those in need. His generosity knew no bounds, and his kindness resonated with everyone who had the pleasure of crossing his path. He stood firm in his belief that service to others was service to God and lived that belief out daily in his actions.

John’s passing leaves a significant void that will never be filled. His spirit lives on in the lives of those whom he touched, the love he shared, and the faith he demonstrated.

John’s well-attended funeral was held at Christ Church Somerset West on Friday 26 May 2023.

We know that John is with the Lord in glory now—may he rest in God’s eternal peace!
